Comprehensive mental health assessments designed to provide accurate diagnoses, personalized treatment recommendations, and a clear path toward improved emotional wellness.

A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation is the foundation of effective mental health treatment. At North Alabama Family Psychiatry & Counseling, our providers conduct thorough evaluations to better understand each patient's symptoms, medical history, developmental history, family history, and life experiences. This comprehensive approach allows us to make accurate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment recommendations.
Whether you are experiencing new symptoms or seeking a second opinion, our evaluations are designed to provide clarity, answer questions, and establish a personalized plan of care.
Every patient is unique, and no two evaluations are exactly alike. During your appointment, your provider will discuss your current concerns, psychiatric and medical history, previous treatments, medications, family history, and other factors that may contribute to your symptoms. When appropriate, standardized screening tools may also be incorporated into the evaluation.

Our providers diagnose and treat a wide range of psychiatric conditions affecting children, adolescents, and adults, including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar and related disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma- and stressor-related disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), autism spectrum disorder, mood disorders, behavioral and emotional disorders in children and adolescents, and other psychiatric conditions.

Following your evaluation, your provider will review the findings, discuss the diagnosis, and recommend an individualized treatment plan based on your specific needs and goals. Depending on your diagnosis, treatment may include psychiatric medication management, NeuroStar® Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for eligible patients, lifestyle recommendations, coordination with your primary care physician or other healthcare providers, and referrals to community resources when appropriate.
Our goal is to provide an accurate diagnosis, thoughtful guidance, and evidence-based treatment that supports your long-term mental health and overall quality of life. Every treatment plan is individualized, taking into account each patient's symptoms, medical history, personal goals, and overall well-being to provide comprehensive, evidence-based psychiatric care.
